 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, David Caddie of Livingston High School
 distinguished himself with his powerlifting achievements during
 2015, earning a trip to the Texas High School Powerlifting
 Association State Championships; and
 WHEREAS, In order to qualify for state, an athlete must prove
 his abilities at the regional meet by finishing in first or second
 place or by lifting a specified total weight; Mr. Caddie made a
 strong showing at the Region 4 Division 1 competition held at Taylor
 High School in Katy on March 7; he reached the qualifying total for
 the 198-pound class by hoisting 535 pounds in the squat, 305 in the
 bench press, and 585 in the deadlift for a total of 1,425 pounds;
 and
 WHEREAS, At the THSPA State Championships, which took place
 in Abilene on March 28, Mr. Caddie bettered his regional totals by
 lifting a combined weight of 1,460 pounds to finish in 12th place;
 that performance closed out his junior year of competition and
 provides a strong foundation for further achievements in 2016; and
 WHEREAS, Demonstrating hard work and an unwavering
 determination to achieve his goals, this talented student-athlete
 has claimed a place among the elite young weight lifters in the Lone
 Star State, and he may reflect with pride on his outstanding
 accomplishment; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate David Caddie on qualifying for the
 Texas High School Powerlifting Association State Championships and
 extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Caddie as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
