H.R. No. 1821 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The pastor of the Inspiring Body of Christ Church in Dallas, Dr. Rickie G. Rush, is serving as Pastor of the Day for the Texas House of Representatives on April 10, 2015; and WHEREAS, For a quarter-century, Dr. Rush has ably led IBOC as its founding pastor; the church has expanded immensely under his careful guidance, growing from a group of just nine original members into what is today a flourishing congregation of more than 14,000 worshippers; and WHEREAS, This esteemed clergyman holds a bachelor's degree in secondary education from The University of Texas at Arlington as well as a doctor of divinity degree from Rialto Bible College; before entering the ministry full-time, Dr. Rush served as a theater arts teacher at Skyline High School, and he has also taught courses at Cedar Valley Community College and Christ for the Nations Institute; he currently is principal at the IBOC Mary L. Rush Children's College for preschoolers and kindergartners and the church's Christian Academy for first- through sixth-graders; moreover, he has further distinguished himself as an author and radio host; and WHEREAS, Dr. Rush has been recognized on several occasions for his endeavors as a minister and public speaker, and he has helped to give back to the greater community by sponsoring food drives for needy residents in the Dallas area; and WHEREAS, Through the years, Pastor Rickie Rush has inspired countless Texans with his message of grace and goodwill, and it is a pleasure to welcome him to this chamber; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby commend Dr. Rickie G. Rush for his service as Pastor of the Day and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Pastor Rush as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
