| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Patricia Rodarte of El Paso has been awarded a |

| 6 | 7 | | $20,000 scholarship from the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation; and |

| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1989, the Coca-Cola Scholars |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | Foundation provides a select group of high school seniors with |

| 9 | 10 | | awards each year; honorees are chosen based on their educational |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | accomplishments, leadership abilities, and service to their |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | communities; out of more than 100,000 applicants from across the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | nation, only 150 finalists were named 2015 Coca-Cola Scholars; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Rodarte is ranked first in her class of |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | approximately 300 seniors at Riverside High School, where she |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | participates in band and student council, competes in the Academic |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Decathlon, and serves as a tutor; in 2014, she was one of 72 high |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | school seniors chosen to attend a prestigious summer program at the |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Massachusetts Institute of Technology; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, In addition to her academic endeavors, Ms. Rodarte |

| 20 | 21 | | is an active member of her church, and she has participated in local |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | food drives to help underserved families in nearby Juárez, Mexico; |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | she also enjoys spending time with her family and friends and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | supporting her school at athletic events; and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, A truly outstanding Texan, Patricia Rodarte is well |

| 25 | 26 | | prepared to meet the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, |

| 26 | 27 | | and she is indeed deserving of special recognition for her |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | achievements; now, therefore, be it |

| 28 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
