| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Rick McDaniel was appointed superintendent of |

| 6 | 7 | | schools for the McKinney Independent School District on December 9, |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A veteran educator who has worked in Texas public |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | schools for nearly three decades, Dr. McDaniel previously spent |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | some 20 years with the Tyler ISD as a classroom teacher, coach, |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | assistant principal, and principal; he joined the McKinney ISD in |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | 2006 as principal of the newly constructed McKinney Boyd High |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | School, and his leadership was critical to the school's successes |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | in the areas of academic achievement, fine arts, and athletics; in |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | January 2014, he was named assistant superintendent of student |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | services for the district; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed administrator earned his bachelor's |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | degree from Stephen F. Austin State University, a master's degree |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | from The University of Texas at Tyler, and his doctorate from the |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | University of North Texas; Dr. McDaniel is the recipient of a |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | number of prestigious accolades, including the Distinguished |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Leader Award from the Science Teachers Association of Texas, the |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Distinguished Administrator Award from the Texas Music Educators |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | Association, and the 2013 National Thespian Award for |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | Administrative Support; and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of his exemplary career, |

| 27 | 28 | | Dr. McDaniel has demonstrated skilled, incisive leadership and an |

| 28 | 29 | | unwavering enthusiasm for educating young people, and he may indeed |

| 29 | 30 | | reflect with pride on his accomplishments as he takes up the |

| 30 | 31 | | challenges and opportunities of his new position; now, therefore, |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 33 | 34 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Rick McDaniel on his |
