| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of DeWitt |

| 6 | 7 | | Monroe Jones Jr. of Rio Grande City, who died on March 11, 2015, at |

| 7 | 8 | | the age of 73; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Known affectionately as "Chachi," Mr. Jones was |

| 9 | 10 | | born in Rio Grande City on September 22, 1941, to DeWitt Jones and |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Trinidad Lopez; he was joined in marriage to Rafaela Ozuna, and the |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | couple were blessed with 12 children, DeWitt, Rose Marie, Alicia, |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Robert, Mary Ann, Dave, Knox, Edward, Lillian, Carlos, Becky, and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | DeWitt Chachi; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Jones owned two small businesses in the area, |

| 15 | 16 | | Chachi's Wrecker Express and Chachi's Express Mart, but he was |

| 16 | 17 | | perhaps best known for his work as a public servant; for 16 years, |

| 17 | 18 | | from 1982 to 1998, he served as the Starr County justice of the |

| 18 | 19 | | peace for Precinct 6; he further contributed to his community as |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | president of the Union Water Supply Corporation board of trustees |

| 20 | 21 | | and as a member of the Colonia Resident Advisory Committee; in his |

| 21 | 22 | | leisure time, he enjoyed fishing on the Rio Grande; and |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, A devoted family man and a dedicated community |

| 23 | 24 | | leader, Chachi Jones led a full and generous life, and he leaves |

| 24 | 25 | | behind a record of service that his loved ones can remember with |

| 25 | 26 | | pride; now, therefore, be it |

| 26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
