| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, USDA graduate fellows are pursuing master's degrees |

| 9 | 10 | | in agriculture, biology, or sustainable food systems; Ms. Lopez was |

| 10 | 11 | | one of only 20 honorees from across the nation chosen to attend a |

| 11 | 12 | | Career Preparation Institute in March that was held in conjunction |

| 12 | 13 | | with the National Conference of the American Association of |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Hispanics in Higher Education; and |

| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, After earning a bachelor's degree in marine and |

| 16 | 17 | | Ms. Martinez served as a research assistant at Centro Ecológico |

| 17 | 18 | | Akumal in Quintana Roo, Mexico, where she aided sea grass |

| 18 | 19 | | conservation efforts for marine protected areas and helped develop |

| 19 | 20 | | a sea grass monitoring program in Puerto Morelos; today, she is |
