45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, High school graduation is one of life's pivotal
67 milestones, and Erin Lynn Escobedo will experience that joyful
78 occasion when she graduates with the Sanger High School Class of
89 2015; and
910 WHEREAS, The daughter of Richard and Jan Escobedo, Erin
1011 Escobedo is ranked fourth in her class of 196 with an exceptional
1112 3.998 grade point average and has already taken several courses for
1213 college credit; she has also participated in numerous
1314 extracurricular activities, including the National Honor Society,
1415 which she serves as events chair, the Science National Honor
1516 Society, the student council, the Spanish Club, and the National
1617 Ocean Sciences Bowl; and
1718 WHEREAS, Lettered in varsity powerlifting, Ms. Escobedo is a
1819 four-time qualifier for the state competition, where she has earned
1920 two medals, and she has twice been crowned regional champion and
2021 Natural Athlete Strength Association High School Nationals
2122 champion; she has also claimed five Best Light Weight Lifter
2223 trophies as well as a N.A.S.A., five regional, and seven Sanger High
2324 records, and she was selected to the Texas High School Women's
2425 Powerlifting Association Academic All-State team; a member of the
2526 varsity track and field and cheerleading squads as well, she was a
2627 district finalist in the 300-meter hurdles event and has been named
2728 an All-American Cheerleader by the Universal Cheerleaders
2829 Association; and
2930 WHEREAS, Ms. Escobedo has further distinguished herself
3031 through her involvement in her community, giving generously of her
3132 time and talents in behalf of the Special Olympics and the Christmas
3233 Angel Tree and Keep Sanger Beautiful service projects and coaching
3334 cheerleading groups; in addition, she is a valued congregant at
3435 First Baptist Church of Sanger, where she has served the youth group
3536 and preschool ministries and participated in New Orleans mission
3637 trips; and
3738 WHEREAS, After graduation, Ms. Escobedo plans to attend
3839 Texas Woman's University to pursue a degree in kinesiology; and
3940 WHEREAS, Exciting challenges and opportunities await this
4041 outstanding young Texan, and it is a pleasure to join her family and
4142 friends in recognizing her as she embarks on a future bright with
4243 promise; now, therefore, be it
4344 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
4445 Legislature hereby congratulate Erin Lynn Escobedo on her
4546 graduation from Sanger High School and extend to her sincere best
4647 wishes for success in her future endeavors; and, be it further
4748 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4849 prepared for Ms. Escobedo as an expression of high regard by the
4950 Texas House of Representatives.
