| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, High school graduation is one of life's pivotal |

| 6 | 7 | | milestones, and Erin Lynn Escobedo will experience that joyful |

| 7 | 8 | | occasion when she graduates with the Sanger High School Class of |

| 8 | 9 | | 2015; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Richard and Jan Escobedo, Erin |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Escobedo is ranked fourth in her class of 196 with an exceptional |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | 3.998 grade point average and has already taken several courses for |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | college credit; she has also participated in numerous |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | extracurricular activities, including the National Honor Society, |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | which she serves as events chair, the Science National Honor |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Society, the student council, the Spanish Club, and the National |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Ocean Sciences Bowl; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Lettered in varsity powerlifting, Ms. Escobedo is a |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | four-time qualifier for the state competition, where she has earned |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | two medals, and she has twice been crowned regional champion and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Natural Athlete Strength Association High School Nationals |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | champion; she has also claimed five Best Light Weight Lifter |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | trophies as well as a N.A.S.A., five regional, and seven Sanger High |

| 23 | 24 | | records, and she was selected to the Texas High School Women's |

| 24 | 25 | | Powerlifting Association Academic All-State team; a member of the |

| 25 | 26 | | varsity track and field and cheerleading squads as well, she was a |

| 26 | 27 | | district finalist in the 300-meter hurdles event and has been named |

| 27 | 28 | | an All-American Cheerleader by the Universal Cheerleaders |

| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Escobedo has further distinguished herself |

| 30 | 31 | | through her involvement in her community, giving generously of her |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | time and talents in behalf of the Special Olympics and the Christmas |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | Angel Tree and Keep Sanger Beautiful service projects and coaching |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | cheerleading groups; in addition, she is a valued congregant at |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | First Baptist Church of Sanger, where she has served the youth group |

| 35 | 36 | | and preschool ministries and participated in New Orleans mission |
|---|
| 36 | 37 | | trips; and |

| 37 | 38 | | WHEREAS, After graduation, Ms. Escobedo plans to attend |
|---|
| 38 | 39 | | Texas Woman's University to pursue a degree in kinesiology; and |

| 39 | 40 | | WHEREAS, Exciting challenges and opportunities await this |

| 40 | 41 | | outstanding young Texan, and it is a pleasure to join her family and |

| 41 | 42 | | friends in recognizing her as she embarks on a future bright with |

| 42 | 43 | | promise; now, therefore, be it |

| 43 | 44 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 44 | 45 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Erin Lynn Escobedo on her |

| 45 | 46 | | graduation from Sanger High School and extend to her sincere best |
