| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Lucille Rochs is a beloved citizen of Fredericksburg |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Born in Sabinal in 1915, Mrs. Rochs earned her |

| 10 | 11 | | bachelor's degree at Texas State University and her master's degree |

| 11 | 12 | | in education at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio; she |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | went on to enjoy a teaching career in San Antonio, working in the |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Edgewood and Northside Independent School Districts and also served |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | as a higher education instructor at San Antonio College and Sul Ross |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | State University; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, On her retirement in the 1970s, Mrs. Rochs moved to |

| 17 | 18 | | Fredericksburg, where she immersed herself in a multitude of |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | projects benefiting the community; she helped form the Gillespie |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | County Child Welfare Board and the Hill Country Community Needs |

| 20 | 21 | | Council, and she has worked tirelessly through the years to raise |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | money for the Something From the Heart campaign that benefits the |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Needs Council; in addition, she became the first female chair of the |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Hill Country Memorial Hospital Board and served the board for a |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | total of 18 years; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, At age 76, this dynamic woman won election to the |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | first of her two consecutive four-year terms on the city council; |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | she has continued to be a force in civic affairs, and her |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | contributions include helping the Hill Country University Center, |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | an institution founded in 2002, to build key academic partnerships |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | with Texas Tech University and Austin Community College; more |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | recently, she has served as the treasurer for the foundation |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | benefiting the Golden Hub Senior Center, which she played a role in |

| 33 | 34 | | establishing some three decades ago; and |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Her passion, tenacity, and commitment to serving her |

| 35 | 36 | | fellow residents have made Lucille Rochs an inspiration to all who |

| 36 | 37 | | know her, and she may indeed reflect with pride on the many ways she |

| 37 | 38 | | has enhanced the quality of life in the area she calls home; now, |
