| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Jim Cliburn received well-deserved recognition when |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Jim Cliburn began his notable career in football by |

| 9 | 10 | | coaching for seven years in the Spring Branch Independent School |

| 10 | 11 | | District, and he went on to work as an assistant coach for Hardin |

| 11 | 12 | | and Hamshire-Fannett High Schools; and |

| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, This skilled mentor spent nearly three decades on |

| 13 | 14 | | the sidelines at Calallen High School in Corpus Christi, where he |

| 14 | 15 | | served as offensive line coach and first assistant to head coach |

| 15 | 16 | | Phil Danaher; the Wildcats enjoyed remarkable success during his |

| 16 | 17 | | tenure, making 28 total playoff appearances and one trip to the |

| 17 | 18 | | state championship game; Coach Cliburn was selected the District |

| 18 | 19 | | 30-4A Coach of the Year in 1999, becoming the first assistant coach |

| 19 | 20 | | to ever claim the award; moreover, he was recognized for his |

| 20 | 21 | | outstanding contributions to Calallen High when the school's weight |

| 21 | 22 | | room was named in his honor; and |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, With his exceptional ability to teach and motivate, |

| 23 | 24 | | Jim Cliburn made a positive difference in the lives of hundreds of |

| 24 | 25 | | young athletes, and in so doing he earned a place among the |

| 25 | 26 | | legendary coaches of the Coastal Bend area; now, therefore, be it |

| 26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
