H.R. No. 1872
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Dr. Cecelia Boswell was named the recipient of the
2014 State Administrator of the Gifted Award by the Texas
Association for the Gifted and Talented, and this achievement
indeed merits special recognition; and
WHEREAS, The Administrator of the Gifted Award is given
annually to a worthy administrator who has demonstrated an ongoing
commitment to the education of gifted children in the State of
Texas; Dr. Boswell was chosen for this notable honor in recognition
of her work as executive director of advanced academics for the Waco
Independent School District; in that role, she helped the district
to meet state compliance guidelines for gifted education and
provided continuing education and training for teachers; moreover,
she was instrumental in the establishment of the ATLAS Academy of
Waco, an advanced learning middle school that emphasizes
humanities, science, and technology in its curriculum; and
WHEREAS, During her tenure with the Waco ISD, Dr. Boswell
contributed immeasurably to creating a supportive and challenging
educational environment for gifted students, and her achievements
will resonate in the district for years to come; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Cecelia Boswell on her receipt
of the 2014 State Administrator of the Gifted Award from the Texas
Association for the Gifted and Talented and extend to her sincere
best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Dr. Boswell as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
