H.R. No. 1877 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary commemorates a lifetime of mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Mary and Antonio Cabral of San Antonio marked this joyous milestone in their marriage on April 17, 2015; and WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Cabral were joined in matrimony in 1965 at a ceremony held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in San Antonio; through the years, they have been blessed with a treasured family that includes their children, Elizabeth, Christina, Elena, Cynthia, and Antonio, as well as their grandchildren, Bianca, Nicholas, Olivia, Sebastian, Paloma, and Alegra; and WHEREAS, Longtime residents of San Antonio, Mr. and Mrs. Cabral have worked to demonstrate the values of education and community involvement; Mr. Cabral served in the United States Marine Corps and then attended college while working in civil service; after 33 years, he retired as the director of the San Antonio Housing and Urban Development office, and today he remains a strong and respected voice as a writer, editor, and publisher; Mrs. Cabral earned undergraduate and graduate degrees and worked for the Social Security Administration for 22 years; a passionate educator, she continues to work part-time as a teacher at Palo Alto College; and WHEREAS, The five decades of marriage that Mr. and Mrs. Cabral have shared is eloquent affirmation of the meaning of love and commitment, and their enduring union is an inspiration to all who know them; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Mary and Antonio Cabral on their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Cabral as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
