| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The untimely death of Officer Adrian Arellano of the |

| 6 | 7 | | El Paso Police Department on March 18, 2015, at the age of 39, has |

| 7 | 8 | | brought a profound loss to his loved ones and to the community he |

| 8 | 9 | | served; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, A longtime resident of El Paso, "Curtis" Arellano |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | graduated from Socorro High School in 1995 and had worked in the |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | department for the past 10 years; he was steadfast in his dedication |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | to protecting the safety and welfare of the public, and after only |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | two years on the force, he was given a special assignment to the |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | department's tactical section; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Officer Arellano's gruff, no-nonsense exterior |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | belied his warm heart and generous nature; he was a true friend to |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | many, and his affection and devotion to his wife of 13 years, |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Margaret, and their son, Adrian, were apparent to all who knew him; |

| 19 | 20 | | he cherished his role as a father and always strove to set an |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | honorable example; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Though Officer Arellano's life ended far too soon, |

| 22 | 23 | | he leaves behind a record of service that his loved ones can |

| 23 | 24 | | remember with pride; now, therefore, be it |

| 24 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
