 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Carlos
 Garcia Jr. of El Paso, who passed away on December 13, 2014, at the
 age of 58; and
 WHEREAS, The son of Carlos and Carolina Garcia, "Charlie"
 Garcia graduated in 1975 from Jefferson High School, where he was a
 member of the basketball team and an all-district baseball player;
 and
 WHEREAS, Blessed with a cherished family, Mr. Garcia was
 devoted to his wife, Sarah, with whom he shared many years of
 marriage, and he took immense pride in his son, Michael; and
 WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan regularly involved himself in
 local politics and gave freely of his time and talents to a number
 of worthwhile organizations and causes; he frequently volunteered
 his time to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the El Paso
 Multiple Sclerosis Association, and his efforts were instrumental
 in the establishment of the first local charity golf tournament
 benefiting individuals with MS; moreover, he contributed to the
 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and served on the Sun Bowl Media
 Host Committee; and
 WHEREAS, In his leisure time, Mr. Garcia enjoyed taking care
 of his pets, golfing, playing softball, and participating in the
 Zapata Sports Club; and
 WHEREAS, Deeply committed to his family and his community,
 Charlie Garcia made a meaningful difference in the lives of his
 loved ones and fellow citizens alike, and those who were fortunate
 enough to know him will treasure their memories of his generous,
 helpful nature and his friendly smile; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Carlos Garcia Jr. and
 extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
 Sarah Garcia; to his son, Michael Garcia; to his sisters, Norma
 Marin, Bonnie Concha, and Lety Cordero; and to his other relatives
 and friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Charlie
 Garcia.
