R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Honorable Alice Tomerlin retired as justice of
the peace for Precinct 1 in Wood County in December 2014, having
served area citizens with great distinction in that post for the
past two decades; and
WHEREAS, Judge Tomerlin was first elected to the bench in
1994, becoming one of the first Republican candidates to win office
in Wood County; throughout her notable tenure, this esteemed Texan
worked tirelessly to advance the common good, and she exemplified
the highest standards of public service; her outstanding efforts
garnered her the respect of her colleagues and the loyalty of
voters, who repeatedly returned her to office over the years; and
WHEREAS, Alice Tomerlin helped to make Wood County an even
better place in which to live and work through her dedication and
professionalism, and she may take justifiable pride in her
outstanding record of achievement; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Judge Alice Tomerlin on her
retirement as justice of the peace for Precinct 1 in Wood County and
extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Judge Tomerlin as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
