| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Honorable Alice Tomerlin retired as justice of |

| 6 | 7 | | the peace for Precinct 1 in Wood County in December 2014, having |

| 7 | 8 | | served area citizens with great distinction in that post for the |

| 8 | 9 | | past two decades; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Judge Tomerlin was first elected to the bench in |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | 1994, becoming one of the first Republican candidates to win office |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | in Wood County; throughout her notable tenure, this esteemed Texan |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | worked tirelessly to advance the common good, and she exemplified |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | the highest standards of public service; her outstanding efforts |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | garnered her the respect of her colleagues and the loyalty of |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | voters, who repeatedly returned her to office over the years; and |

| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Alice Tomerlin helped to make Wood County an even |

| 17 | 18 | | better place in which to live and work through her dedication and |

| 18 | 19 | | professionalism, and she may take justifiable pride in her |

| 19 | 20 | | outstanding record of achievement; now, therefore, be it |

| 20 | 21 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
