| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The 100th birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed a |

| 6 | 7 | | special occasion, and Elizabeth Williams of Rains County celebrated |

| 7 | 8 | | this significant milestone in her life on December 22, 2014, to the |

| 8 | 9 | | delight of her family and friends; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Born in the Willow Springs community in 1914, the |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | former Elizabeth Armstrong is the daughter of Russell and Mattie |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Armstrong; the sixth of seven children, she helped out on the family |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | farm by picking cotton and performing other chores in her youth; |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | after moving to Dallas, she worked at Skillern's Drugstore for a few |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | years; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Returning to Rains County, she was joined in |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | matrimony to Earl Williams, and the couple shared a fulfilling |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | relationship until his passing in 1986; for many years, |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Mrs. Williams has been a valued member of Emory Church of Christ; |

| 19 | 20 | | and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, A cancer survivor, Mrs. Williams now enjoys good |

| 21 | 22 | | health, and she credits crossword puzzles with keeping her mind |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | sharp; she also carefully reads every page of the Rains County |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Leader, and she takes pleasure in cheering for the Dallas Cowboys, |

| 24 | 25 | | although she waxes a little nostalgic for the team's Tom Landry |

| 25 | 26 | | days; and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Elizabeth Williams is a source of tremendous |

| 27 | 28 | | inspiration to many people, and in sharing the experience gained |

| 28 | 29 | | through a century of life well lived, she provides a precious gift |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | of wisdom that benefits all who are fortunate enough to know her; |
