H.R. No. 1915 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories of Alvin Clayton Welborn of Mount Pleasant, who passed away on August 23, 2014, at the age of 79; and WHEREAS, This lifelong Texan was born on September 3, 1934, in Princeton to William Jefferson and Vera Altha Welborn; he began his career with State Farm Insurance in Dallas in 1953 and eventually moved in 1985 to Mount Pleasant, where he worked as an agent; after 51 years with State Farm, he retired in 2004; and WHEREAS, Through the years, Mr. Welborn was active in the communities of Princeton and Mount Pleasant; in 1968, he helped found the Princeton Athletic Booster Club, and he further contributed his time as an announcer at high school football games and as an umpire and coach for Little League sports; a member of the Lions Club since 1978, he served as a chapter president in both cities he called home; he was an elder at the Princeton Church of Christ and most recently at the Northridge Church of Christ in Mount Pleasant, and he additionally had served as a member of the Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce and the Optimist Club; and WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Welborn was sustained by the affection and support of a fine family that included his wife of six decades, Freida, and their children, Randy, Rhonda, Bradley, Tammie, Jon, and Jeff; he delighted in spending time with his loved ones, and he was also an avid hunter and fisherman; and WHEREAS, Alvin Clayton Welborn enjoyed a life that was rich in the intangibles that matter most, and he is deeply missed by all those who held him dear; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Alvin Clayton Welborn and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Freida Welborn; to his children, Randy Welborn and his wife, Carrie, Rhonda Hawkins and her husband, Ray, Bradley Welborn and his wife, Danielle, Tammie Lewis and her husband, Doug, Jon Welborn and his wife, Carol, and Jeff Welborn and his wife, Monica; to his brother, Doyle Welborn, and his wife, Mary Lou; to his sister-in-law, Betty Welborn; to his 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Alvin Clayton Welborn.
