No. 1917 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the passing of Annastazie Nemec Kennedy of Corpus Christi on March 29, 2015, at the age of 98; and WHEREAS, The former Annastazie Spalek, affectionately known as Nancy, was born on July 31, 1916, to Frank and Marie Spalek in Plum; she enjoyed a rewarding family life with her husband Fred J. Nemec and their eight children, Michael, Anna Marie, Richard, Elizabeth, Patricia, Fred, Joe, and Benny; after Mr. Nemec passed away, she was fortunate to find love again with her second husband, Harry Kennedy; and WHEREAS, A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. Kennedy delighted in cooking and baking for her loved ones, whom she treated to bounteous Czech meals and such other delicious fare as strudels and kolaches; she also counted sewing, quilting, and crocheting among her favorite pastimes; Mrs. Kennedy was a valued, longtime member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, where she was involved with the Altar Society and other church activities; and WHEREAS, Nancy Nemec Kennedy enjoyed a life that was rich in the intangibles that matter most, and she is deeply missed by all those who held her dear; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Annastazie Nemec Kennedy and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of her family: to her children, Patricia Nemec, Fred Nemec, Joe R. Nemec and his wife, Pam, and Benny Nemec and his wife, Marilyn; to her son-in-law, Earl Runte; to her daughter-in-law, Lisa Syma; to her sister, Norma Birmingham; to her 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Nancy Nemec Kennedy.
