5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Nelson Coulter announced his retirement from |

6 | 7 | | the Guthrie Common School District in February 2015, having |

7 | 8 | | rendered outstanding service to area students over the course of |

8 | 9 | | his distinguished tenure; and |
---|
9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, During his six years as superintendent of Guthrie |
---|
10 | 11 | | CSD, Dr. Coulter guided the district through a period of positive |
---|
11 | 12 | | growth while fostering a culture of learning and forward thinking; |
---|
12 | 13 | | he has overseen a number of significant developments, including a |
---|
13 | 14 | | greater emphasis on technology and a holistic approach to education |
---|
14 | 15 | | that extends beyond academics to encompass the overall health of |
---|
15 | 16 | | students; in addition, he instituted a new meal plan in the |
---|
16 | 17 | | district's cafeterias in order to provide for better food options |
---|
17 | 18 | | and to improve student outcomes in the classroom; and |
---|
18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed administrator previously served as a |
---|
19 | 20 | | teacher and coach for the Jayton-Girard, Haskell, Rankin, Robert |
---|
20 | 21 | | Lee, Round Rock, and Pflugerville school districts; Dr. Coulter |
---|
21 | 22 | | also taught graduate studies at Wayland Baptist University, and he |
---|
22 | 23 | | continues to serve as a lecturer in the College of Education for The |
---|
23 | 24 | | University of Texas at Austin; and |
---|
24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, In retirement, Dr. Coulter looks forward to |
---|
25 | 26 | | spending more time with his wife on their ranch, where he hopes to |
---|
26 | 27 | | produce enough meat and produce to fulfill all of his family's |
---|
27 | 28 | | dietary needs; and |
---|
28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, The Guthrie Common School District has benefited |
---|
29 | 30 | | immeasurably from Dr. Coulter's visionary leadership and his |
---|
30 | 31 | | commitment to the well-being of students, and he may indeed reflect |
---|
31 | 32 | | with pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it |
---|
32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
---|
33 | 34 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Nelson Coulter on his |
---|
34 | 35 | | retirement as superintendent of the Guthrie Common School District |
---|
35 | 36 | | and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it |
