45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Dr. Nelson Coulter announced his retirement from
67 the Guthrie Common School District in February 2015, having
78 rendered outstanding service to area students over the course of
89 his distinguished tenure; and
910 WHEREAS, During his six years as superintendent of Guthrie
1011 CSD, Dr. Coulter guided the district through a period of positive
1112 growth while fostering a culture of learning and forward thinking;
1213 he has overseen a number of significant developments, including a
1314 greater emphasis on technology and a holistic approach to education
1415 that extends beyond academics to encompass the overall health of
1516 students; in addition, he instituted a new meal plan in the
1617 district's cafeterias in order to provide for better food options
1718 and to improve student outcomes in the classroom; and
1819 WHEREAS, This esteemed administrator previously served as a
1920 teacher and coach for the Jayton-Girard, Haskell, Rankin, Robert
2021 Lee, Round Rock, and Pflugerville school districts; Dr. Coulter
2122 also taught graduate studies at Wayland Baptist University, and he
2223 continues to serve as a lecturer in the College of Education for The
2324 University of Texas at Austin; and
2425 WHEREAS, In retirement, Dr. Coulter looks forward to
2526 spending more time with his wife on their ranch, where he hopes to
2627 produce enough meat and produce to fulfill all of his family's
2728 dietary needs; and
2829 WHEREAS, The Guthrie Common School District has benefited
2930 immeasurably from Dr. Coulter's visionary leadership and his
3031 commitment to the well-being of students, and he may indeed reflect
3132 with pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it
3233 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
3334 Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Nelson Coulter on his
3435 retirement as superintendent of the Guthrie Common School District
3536 and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
3637 further
3738 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3839 prepared for Dr. Coulter as an expression of high regard by the
3940 Texas House of Representatives.
