| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Alice Aanstoos of Missouri City retired from AT&T on |

| 6 | 7 | | March 31, 2015, after 34 years of outstanding service, and this |

| 7 | 8 | | event provides a welcome opportunity to take note of the |

| 8 | 9 | | achievements of this esteemed professional; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, In her role as regional vice president of external |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | affairs for AT&T, Ms. Aanstoos was responsible for directing |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | community activities, state and local lobbying efforts, and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | charitable contributions in Houston and South Texas; over the |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | course of her career, she managed every aspect of public affairs, |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | and she has held leadership positions with the company in Missouri, |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Kansas, and Texas; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Aanstoos has also been involved with numerous |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | worthy community organizations; she currently serves as the chair |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | of the board of the Greater Houston American Red Cross, and she is a |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | member of the University of Houston Hobby Center for Public Policy |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Advisory Board, among others; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, For her myriad efforts to better her region, |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Ms. Aanstoos has been recognized with a number of volunteer awards, |

| 23 | 24 | | and she has been nationally honored with the Distinguished |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | Leadership Award from the Community Leadership Association; in |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | 2006, she was named one of Leadership Houston's 25 most |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | distinguished graduates; and |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, After earning a bachelor's degree in journalism from |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | The University of Texas at Austin, Ms. Aanstoos went on to graduate |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | from the University of Houston's Center for Executive Development |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | program in the School of Business; additionally, she is an American |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | Leadership Forum Senior Fellow and an alumna of the FBI Citizens |

| 32 | 33 | | Academy; and |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | WHEREAS, Through her dedication, professionalism, and |

| 34 | 35 | | commitment to excellence, Alice Aanstoos has greatly benefited the |

| 35 | 36 | | citizens of Houston and the surrounding area, and she may indeed |

| 36 | 37 | | reflect with pride on a career well spent as she embarks on the next |

| 37 | 38 | | exciting chapter of her life; now, therefore, be it |

| 38 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 39 | 40 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Alice Aanstoos on her retirement |
