| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Archie Abrameit retired from his position as manager |

| 6 | 7 | | of the Stiles Farm Foundation in Thrall on March 31, 2015, and the |

| 7 | 8 | | conclusion of his notable career provides a fitting opportunity to |

| 8 | 9 | | recognize him; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The 2,600-acre Stiles Farm is part of the Texas A&M |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | AgriLife Extension Service; the farm serves as a research and |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | teaching platform through its crop production and cattle herd, and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | it assists farmers in the unique Blacklands soil region of Central |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | and South Texas with new farming practices; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Abrameit began managing the Stiles Farm |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Foundation in 1997; in addition to supervising daily operations, he |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | worked on long-term projects, such as development of the calf-cow |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | program and conservation tillage research activities; he also |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | helped create partnerships with equipment companies, and he oversaw |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | the annual field day events, which draw approximately 400 producers |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | from the Blacklands region and across Texas, as well as from other |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | states; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Before joining Stiles Farm, Mr. Abrameit spent 19 |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | years running the Luling Foundation farm, and he also taught |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | agriculture in the La Grange and Seguin Independent School |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | Districts for a number of years; he received his bachelor's degree |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | in agricultural education from Texas A&M University, where he also |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | earned a fellowship to pursue a master's degree; and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, In retirement, Mr. Abrameit and his wife, Virginia, |

| 29 | 30 | | look forward to returning to their historic home farm in South |

| 30 | 31 | | Texas, near Goliad and Victoria; and |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Archie Abrameit's dedication, professionalism, and |

| 32 | 33 | | commitment to excellence have greatly benefited his fellow Texans, |

| 33 | 34 | | and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent; now, |

| 35 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 36 | 37 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Archie Abrameit on his retirement |
