H.R. No. 1953 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Seniors from San Antonio Young Women's Leadership Academy are being honored by the San Antonio Young Women's Leadership Foundation with a Lunch and Learn event on April 15, 2015, and this occasion presents a wonderful opportunity to recognize the students for their accomplishments; and WHEREAS, Created in 2008 by the San Antonio Independent School District and the Foundation for the Education of Young Women, the Young Women's Leadership Academy is dedicated to providing a college-preparatory curriculum with a focus on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics; the school achieved Distinction designation in six areas from the Texas Education Agency in 2014, and it has been recognized as a Texas Honors Circle Campus; and WHEREAS, The Class of 2015 is the second group to graduate from this fine institution, and under the able guidance of principal Delia McLerran and the school's commendable faculty and staff, the students have achieved myriad noteworthy successes; nine seniors qualified for the Duke Talent Identification Program, and the entire class will be enrolled in colleges and universities for the fall semester; and WHEREAS, During their time together, the students of San Antonio Young Women's Leadership Academy Class of 2015 have worked diligently to fulfill the requirements of a well-rounded and challenging academic program, and they may indeed look forward to many exciting opportunities in the years ahead; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the members of the San Antonio Young Women's Leadership Academy Class of 2015 and extend to them sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the class as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
