| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of love |

| 6 | 7 | | and shared experiences, and Pat and Jeff Charney of Denton are |

| 7 | 8 | | celebrating this special milestone in their marriage on April 25, |

| 8 | 9 | | 2015; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The couple began their journey as husband and wife |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | with the exchange of their wedding vows in 1965 at a ceremony held |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | in Littleton, Colorado; their enduring union has brought much |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | happiness to this devoted pair, and through the years, they have |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | shared their joy with a treasured circle of loved ones, including |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | their children, Carolyn Jean and her partner, Lee Ann Shiver, |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Melinda Suzanne and her late husband, Timothy Paul Mangrum, and |

| 16 | 17 | | Fredrick James and his wife, Lori Ann Gabbert; Dr. and Mrs. Charney |

| 17 | 18 | | have also known the delight of welcoming into the family three |

| 18 | 19 | | grandchildren, Trevor Cole, Bethany Nicole, and John Mitchell |

| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Pat Charney had agreed to the marriage under the |

| 21 | 22 | | mistaken assumption that her future husband would fulfill his plan |

| 22 | 23 | | of becoming a forest ranger, but a different path awaited the two; |

| 23 | 24 | | Dr. Charney joined the United States Army after receiving his |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | medical degree from the University of Colorado; following his |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | honorable discharge at the rank of lieutenant colonel, he settled |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | into private practice in Denton and has provided care to residents |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | in that community for the past 35 years; meanwhile, Mrs. Charney |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | attended five colleges in four separate states, all while balancing |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | the demands of raising three children; nearly two decades after |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | committing to her goal, she proudly graduated with a degree in |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | accounting from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor; and |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, With a shared zest for adventure, Dr. and |

| 33 | 34 | | Mrs. Charney have cherished the opportunity to travel around the |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | world; they have visited such faraway lands as Russia, Micronesia, |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | Egypt, Greece, Panama, Bora Bora, and an assortment of Caribbean |

| 36 | 37 | | islands, yet they enjoy the peaceful confines of their 300-acre |

| 37 | 38 | | ranch outside of Bolivar, Texas, as much as any place they have |

| 38 | 39 | | been; and |
|---|
| 39 | 40 | | WHEREAS, Built on a foundation of mutual affection, faith, |

| 40 | 41 | | and trust, the Charneys' marriage has been a source of inspiration |

| 41 | 42 | | to all who know them, and it is indeed a pleasure to recognize the |

| 42 | 43 | | enduring bond of love that has united them for five decades; now, |
