| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Dana Ables is retiring from the Millsap Independent |

| 6 | 7 | | School District at the end of the 2014-2015 school year, following |

| 7 | 8 | | nearly a half-century of outstanding service; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Ables began teaching first grade at Millsap |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | Elementary School in 1968; over the course of her career, she has |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | earned the admiration of students, parents, and fellow educators |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | alike for her positive attitude and for the nurturing environment |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | she creates in the classroom; in addition to ensuring that each of |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | her pupils has a strong academic foundation on which to build, she |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | has imparted valuable life lessons about hard work and discipline |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | and also about kindness, compassion, and courtesy to others; and |

| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, This energetic and creative educator serves as a |

| 17 | 18 | | mentor to many of her fellow teachers while continuing to stay |

| 18 | 19 | | current with the latest strategies and best practices in her field; |

| 19 | 20 | | moreover, she has had the pleasure of teaching multiple generations |

| 20 | 21 | | in a number of area families; and |

| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Teaching calls for character, commitment, and |

| 22 | 23 | | passion, and Dana Ables has demonstrated those qualities in |

| 23 | 24 | | abundance throughout her exemplary 47-year tenure; now, therefore, |

| 25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 26 | 27 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Dana Ables on her retirement from |
