No. 1989 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A life lived with joy and purpose drew to a close on March 29, 2015, with the passing of Celestina Lopez Navarro of Corpus Christi at the age of 76; and WHEREAS, The former Celestina Lopez, affectionately known as Sally, was born on April 16, 1938, to Manuel and Manuela Lopez; she shared 46 years with her husband, Tony, and the couple were blessed with two daughters, Melissa and Belinda; as her family grew, she enjoyed many treasured moments with her six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Navarro was a valued congregant of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, where she served as a CCD teacher, a Eucharistic minister, and a vibrant singer in the choir; she also volunteered her time with the social services office, helping with donations and the preparation of food baskets; and WHEREAS, Although Celestina Navarro is deeply missed, memories of her strong faith and devotion to her family remain to comfort and inspire those she leaves behind; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Celestina Lopez Navarro and extend heartfelt condolences to the members of her family: to her husband, Antonio N. Navarro; to her daughters, Melissa Garza and her husband, Rudy, and Belinda Meza and her husband, Michael; to her grandchildren, Renee Jardine and her husband, Eric, Rudi and Marissa Garza, Jonathan Garcia and his wife, Jessica, and Kirstin and Katelynn Meza; to her great-grandsons, Ryder, Jameson, and Jon Michael; to her brother, Ventura Lopez, and his wife, Margarita; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Celestina Navarro.
