R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The year 2015 marks the 30th anniversary of the
founding of the Economic Alliance Houston Port Region, originally
established as the Southeast Harris County Economic Development
Corporation in Deer Park; and
WHEREAS, This notable organization was formed to build a
sustainable and thriving regional economy with a diverse range of
industry in one of the world's most influential energy corridors
and trade ports; and
WHEREAS, The Economic Alliance membership includes cities,
communities, chambers of commerce, higher education institutions,
independent school districts, and businesses as well as Harris
County and the Port of Houston Authority; and
WHEREAS, Through the endeavors of the Economic Alliance,
thousands of jobs have been created and capital investment totaling
billions of dollars has been attracted to the greater Houston
region; and
WHEREAS, The Economic Alliance Houston Port Region serves as
an outstanding advocate for enterprises that contribute greatly to
the prosperity of the region, and the benefits of its
accomplishments will positively affect Texans long into the future;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Economic
Alliance Houston Port Region and extend to all those involved in the
organization sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the Economic Alliance as an expression of high regard
by the Texas House of Representatives.
