5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, For more than 35 years, Nancy Boston of Bell County |

6 | 7 | | has served as a leader in the Texas Republican Party, and her |

7 | 8 | | steadfast efforts have earned her the respect and admiration of |

8 | 9 | | many people; and |
---|
9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Boston first became involved in grassroots |
---|
10 | 11 | | politics in the 1970s, when she began volunteering as a poll watcher |
---|
11 | 12 | | and campaign worker; after accepting a friend's invitation to a |
---|
12 | 13 | | meeting of the Central Texas Republican Women, she became an |
---|
13 | 14 | | instrumental member of the group, serving in several offices, |
---|
14 | 15 | | including that of president; she participated in numerous |
---|
15 | 16 | | conventions, workshops, and seminars of the Texas and National |
---|
16 | 17 | | Federations of Republican Women and was accorded the TFRW's |
---|
17 | 18 | | Outstanding Republican Woman Award in 1989; and |
---|
18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Since 1981, this dynamic Texan has attended the |
---|
19 | 20 | | party's precinct and county conventions, along with Republican |
---|
20 | 21 | | National Conventions and summits for the Republican Party of Texas; |
---|
21 | 22 | | in 1998 and 2000, she was elected to two-year terms on the State |
---|
22 | 23 | | Republican Executive Committee, the governing body of the RPT, and |
---|
23 | 24 | | she was elected in 1990 as county chair, a position she continues to |
---|
24 | 25 | | hold today; she has enjoyed a long tenure as county chair liaison |
---|
25 | 26 | | for the board of the TFRW and also served as vice president of the |
---|
26 | 27 | | Texas Republican County Chairmen's Association; in addition, she |
---|
27 | 28 | | has conducted training seminars and get-out-the-vote projects and |
---|
28 | 29 | | traveled out of state to take part in strike forces; and |
---|
29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, In 1995, Ms. Boston was appointed by Governor George |
---|
30 | 31 | | W. Bush to the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners, and in 1998, |

31 | 32 | | she was named to the Central Texas Council of Governments Criminal |

32 | 33 | | Justice Advisory Committee; she serves her community today as a |

33 | 34 | | member of the Rotary Club of Killeen Heights, the women's |
---|
34 | 35 | | auxiliaries of the VFW and the American Legion, and the Temple, |
---|
35 | 36 | | Belton Area, and Greater Killeen Chambers of Commerce; and |

36 | 37 | | WHEREAS, Born and raised in Bell County, Ms. Boston studied |
---|
37 | 38 | | at Temple College and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor; she and |
---|
38 | 39 | | her husband, A. C. Boston, own and operate Boston Properties and |
---|
39 | 40 | | have been involved in commercial and residential development, |
---|
40 | 41 | | construction, and property management for more than 40 years; and |
---|
41 | 42 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Boston has devoted her considerable energies |
---|
42 | 43 | | to supporting conservative ideals throughout the state and nation, |
---|
43 | 44 | | and in so doing, she has set an outstanding example of civic |
---|
44 | 45 | | engagement; now, therefore, be it |
---|
45 | 46 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
---|
46 | 47 | | Legislature hereby honor Nancy Boston for her longtime political |
---|
47 | 48 | | activism and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
---|
48 | 49 | | success and happiness; and, be it further |

49 | 50 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

50 | 51 | | prepared for Ms. Boston as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
