45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, For more than 35 years, Nancy Boston of Bell County
67 has served as a leader in the Texas Republican Party, and her
78 steadfast efforts have earned her the respect and admiration of
89 many people; and
910 WHEREAS, Ms. Boston first became involved in grassroots
1011 politics in the 1970s, when she began volunteering as a poll watcher
1112 and campaign worker; after accepting a friend's invitation to a
1213 meeting of the Central Texas Republican Women, she became an
1314 instrumental member of the group, serving in several offices,
1415 including that of president; she participated in numerous
1516 conventions, workshops, and seminars of the Texas and National
1617 Federations of Republican Women and was accorded the TFRW's
1718 Outstanding Republican Woman Award in 1989; and
1819 WHEREAS, Since 1981, this dynamic Texan has attended the
1920 party's precinct and county conventions, along with Republican
2021 National Conventions and summits for the Republican Party of Texas;
2122 in 1998 and 2000, she was elected to two-year terms on the State
2223 Republican Executive Committee, the governing body of the RPT, and
2324 she was elected in 1990 as county chair, a position she continues to
2425 hold today; she has enjoyed a long tenure as county chair liaison
2526 for the board of the TFRW and also served as vice president of the
2627 Texas Republican County Chairmen's Association; in addition, she
2728 has conducted training seminars and get-out-the-vote projects and
2829 traveled out of state to take part in strike forces; and
2930 WHEREAS, In 1995, Ms. Boston was appointed by Governor George
3031 W. Bush to the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners, and in 1998,
3132 she was named to the Central Texas Council of Governments Criminal
3233 Justice Advisory Committee; she serves her community today as a
3334 member of the Rotary Club of Killeen Heights, the women's
3435 auxiliaries of the VFW and the American Legion, and the Temple,
3536 Belton Area, and Greater Killeen Chambers of Commerce; and
3637 WHEREAS, Born and raised in Bell County, Ms. Boston studied
3738 at Temple College and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor; she and
3839 her husband, A. C. Boston, own and operate Boston Properties and
3940 have been involved in commercial and residential development,
4041 construction, and property management for more than 40 years; and
4142 WHEREAS, Nancy Boston has devoted her considerable energies
4243 to supporting conservative ideals throughout the state and nation,
4344 and in so doing, she has set an outstanding example of civic
4445 engagement; now, therefore, be it
4546 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
4647 Legislature hereby honor Nancy Boston for her longtime political
4748 activism and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
4849 success and happiness; and, be it further
4950 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
5051 prepared for Ms. Boston as an expression of high regard by the Texas
5152 House of Representatives.
