H.R. No. 2028 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Countless lives were touched by the kindness, compassion, and wisdom of Consuelo Raymond Kazen of Laredo, who passed away on March 22, 2015, at the age of 95; and WHEREAS, The daughter of Manuel Raymond Jr. and Santos Zapata Raymond, the former Connie Raymond was born on May 6, 1919; she was an educator and an outstanding role model to her students; following her marriage to Abraham "Chick" Kazen, she became an exceptionally nurturing mother to her children, Abraham, Norma, Christina, Catherine, and Jo Betsy, and she eventually knew the joy of welcoming into her family 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Kazen was a staunch Democrat, and after her husband embarked on a career in public service, she provided skillful and dedicated support for his efforts as a member of the Texas Legislature and the United States House of Representatives; she gave generously of her time and talents to numerous civic and charitable organizations, among them the Texas Senate Ladies Club, the Pan American Round Table, the Texas State Teachers Association, the Society of Martha Washington, and the Congressional Texas State Society; a devout Catholic, she was a lady in the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem; and WHEREAS, Connie Kazen lived a rich and purposeful life centered around her family, her faith, and her community, and she will long be remembered with deep affection by all who knew her; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Consuelo "Connie" Raymond Kazen and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her children, Abraham Kazen III, Norma Kazen, Christina Attal and her husband, Ronny, Catherine Kazen, and Jo Betsy Kazen; to her sisters, Gloria Woods, Chabela Martinez, and Zita Coffey; to her brothers, Manuel J. Raymond Jr. and his wife, Angelina, and Rolando Raymond and his wife, Amada; to her 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and to her many other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Connie Kazen.
