5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Countless lives were touched by the kindness, |

6 | 7 | | compassion, and wisdom of Consuelo Raymond Kazen of Laredo, who |

7 | 8 | | passed away on March 22, 2015, at the age of 95; and |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Manuel Raymond Jr. and Santos Zapata |

9 | 10 | | Raymond, the former Connie Raymond was born on May 6, 1919; she was |

10 | 11 | | an educator and an outstanding role model to her students; |
---|
11 | 12 | | following her marriage to Abraham "Chick" Kazen, she became an |
---|
12 | 13 | | exceptionally nurturing mother to her children, Abraham, Norma, |
---|
13 | 14 | | Christina, Catherine, and Jo Betsy, and she eventually knew the joy |
---|
14 | 15 | | of welcoming into her family 11 grandchildren and 11 |
---|
15 | 16 | | great-grandchildren; and |
---|
16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Kazen was a staunch Democrat, and after her |
---|
17 | 18 | | husband embarked on a career in public service, she provided |
---|
18 | 19 | | skillful and dedicated support for his efforts as a member of the |
---|
19 | 20 | | Texas Legislature and the United States House of Representatives; |
---|
20 | 21 | | she gave generously of her time and talents to numerous civic and |

21 | 22 | | charitable organizations, among them the Texas Senate Ladies Club, |
---|
22 | 23 | | the Pan American Round Table, the Texas State Teachers Association, |
---|
23 | 24 | | the Society of Martha Washington, and the Congressional Texas State |

24 | 25 | | Society; a devout Catholic, she was a lady in the Equestrian Order |

25 | 26 | | of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem; and |

26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Connie Kazen lived a rich and purposeful life |

27 | 28 | | centered around her family, her faith, and her community, and she |

28 | 29 | | will long be remembered with deep affection by all who knew her; |
