| 10 | 11 | | Office for Victims of Crime, this important national event was |

| 11 | 12 | | established to empower victims by making them aware of community |

| 12 | 13 | | support and by fostering an atmosphere in which they feel safer and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | more capable of reaching out for assistance; the weeklong |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | activities encourage citizens to listen to crime victims who come |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | forward and to aid in their journey to healing; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, The theme for the 2015 observance is "Engaging |

| 17 | 18 | | Communities, Empowering Victims," and the Nueces County Coalition |

| 18 | 19 | | is hosting a variety of events to more closely involve community |

| 19 | 20 | | leaders, organizations, and concerned citizens; by increasing |
