No. 205 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The Honorable Donna Klaeger completed her outstanding eight-year tenure as Burnet County judge on January 1, 2015; and WHEREAS, First elected in 2006, Judge Klaeger brought to her role considerable experience in financial management, having previously served for eight years as county treasurer; she guided the county commissioners court in surmounting significant challenges that arose during the recession, developing beneficial relationships at the local and state levels; the county obtained grants and forged partnerships that helped it maintain a strong fiscal position, earning a Double A bond rating; and WHEREAS, This dynamic Texan led the commissioners court as it developed a water infrastructure and facility plan, helped foster regional water systems, and worked with state and regional transportation authorities to secure $65 million in road and highway improvements; moreover, while residents now benefit from a lower tax rate than in 2006, the county will be debt-free in 2016; and WHEREAS, Deeply committed to her community and her state, Judge Klaeger has served in numerous leadership roles, including chair of the Texas Commission on Jail Standards and of the Capital Area Council of Governments; she has given generously of her time and expertise as a member of the Texas Association of Regional Councils, the 33rd Judicial District Juvenile Board, the Central Texas Water Coalition, the Seton Development Board, and both the Burnet and Marble Falls/Lake LBJ Chambers of Commerce; and WHEREAS, Donna Klaeger has exemplified the highest standards of public service throughout her career in government, and the conclusion of her tenure as county judge provides a welcome opportunity to acknowledge her exceptional contributions to the people of Burnet County; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby commend the Honorable Donna Klaeger for her accomplishments as county judge of Burnet County and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Judge Klaeger as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
