5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Honorable Donna Klaeger completed her |

6 | 7 | | outstanding eight-year tenure as Burnet County judge on January 1, |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, First elected in 2006, Judge Klaeger brought to her |
---|
9 | 10 | | role considerable experience in financial management, having |
---|
10 | 11 | | previously served for eight years as county treasurer; she guided |
---|
11 | 12 | | the county commissioners court in surmounting significant |
---|
12 | 13 | | challenges that arose during the recession, developing beneficial |
---|
13 | 14 | | relationships at the local and state levels; the county obtained |
---|
14 | 15 | | grants and forged partnerships that helped it maintain a strong |
---|
15 | 16 | | fiscal position, earning a Double A bond rating; and |
---|
16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, This dynamic Texan led the commissioners court as it |
---|
17 | 18 | | developed a water infrastructure and facility plan, helped foster |
---|
18 | 19 | | regional water systems, and worked with state and regional |
---|
19 | 20 | | transportation authorities to secure $65 million in road and |
---|
20 | 21 | | highway improvements; moreover, while residents now benefit from a |
---|
21 | 22 | | lower tax rate than in 2006, the county will be debt-free in 2016; |

23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Deeply committed to her community and her state, |
---|
24 | 25 | | Judge Klaeger has served in numerous leadership roles, including |

25 | 26 | | chair of the Texas Commission on Jail Standards and of the Capital |

26 | 27 | | Area Council of Governments; she has given generously of her time |
---|
27 | 28 | | and expertise as a member of the Texas Association of Regional |
---|
28 | 29 | | Councils, the 33rd Judicial District Juvenile Board, the Central |
---|
29 | 30 | | Texas Water Coalition, the Seton Development Board, and both the |
---|
30 | 31 | | Burnet and Marble Falls/Lake LBJ Chambers of Commerce; and |

31 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Donna Klaeger has exemplified the highest standards |
---|
32 | 33 | | of public service throughout her career in government, and the |
---|
33 | 34 | | conclusion of her tenure as county judge provides a welcome |
---|
34 | 35 | | opportunity to acknowledge her exceptional contributions to the |
---|
35 | 36 | | people of Burnet County; now, therefore, be it |

36 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

37 | 38 | | Legislature hereby commend the Honorable Donna Klaeger for her |

38 | 39 | | accomplishments as county judge of Burnet County and extend to her |
