45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, The Honorable Donna Klaeger completed her
67 outstanding eight-year tenure as Burnet County judge on January 1,
78 2015; and
89 WHEREAS, First elected in 2006, Judge Klaeger brought to her
910 role considerable experience in financial management, having
1011 previously served for eight years as county treasurer; she guided
1112 the county commissioners court in surmounting significant
1213 challenges that arose during the recession, developing beneficial
1314 relationships at the local and state levels; the county obtained
1415 grants and forged partnerships that helped it maintain a strong
1516 fiscal position, earning a Double A bond rating; and
1617 WHEREAS, This dynamic Texan led the commissioners court as it
1718 developed a water infrastructure and facility plan, helped foster
1819 regional water systems, and worked with state and regional
1920 transportation authorities to secure $65 million in road and
2021 highway improvements; moreover, while residents now benefit from a
2122 lower tax rate than in 2006, the county will be debt-free in 2016;
2223 and
2324 WHEREAS, Deeply committed to her community and her state,
2425 Judge Klaeger has served in numerous leadership roles, including
2526 chair of the Texas Commission on Jail Standards and of the Capital
2627 Area Council of Governments; she has given generously of her time
2728 and expertise as a member of the Texas Association of Regional
2829 Councils, the 33rd Judicial District Juvenile Board, the Central
2930 Texas Water Coalition, the Seton Development Board, and both the
3031 Burnet and Marble Falls/Lake LBJ Chambers of Commerce; and
3132 WHEREAS, Donna Klaeger has exemplified the highest standards
3233 of public service throughout her career in government, and the
3334 conclusion of her tenure as county judge provides a welcome
3435 opportunity to acknowledge her exceptional contributions to the
3536 people of Burnet County; now, therefore, be it
3637 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
3738 Legislature hereby commend the Honorable Donna Klaeger for her
3839 accomplishments as county judge of Burnet County and extend to her
3940 sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
4041 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4142 prepared for Judge Klaeger as an expression of high regard by the
4243 Texas House of Representatives.
