45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Marcus Hill of Watauga was recognized by Texas
67 Agricultural Lifetime Leadership with a Lifetime Achievement Award
78 in 2015; and
89 WHEREAS, Texas Agricultural Lifetime Leadership, or TALL, is
910 a program of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service that seeks to
1011 prepare men and women for challenging careers in agriculture;
1112 Mr. Hill, a founding member of TALL, has given generously of his
1213 time and resources to the program since its establishment in 1987;
1314 he has continuously served on the program's advisory board and has
1415 further lent his expertise to the TALL cohort selection committee;
1516 and
1617 WHEREAS, A native of Sulphur Springs who served as president
1718 of the Texas FFA, Marcus Hill graduated from Texas A&M University in
1819 1971 with a bachelor's degree in agricultural education and worked
1920 toward a master's degree in educational psychology; he began
2021 selling insurance with National Farm Life during college, and after
2122 his graduation, he was hired full-time by the business and its
2223 subsidiary, Agricultural Workers Mutual Auto Insurance Company;
2324 and
2425 WHEREAS, Mr. Hill went on to accept increasing levels of
2526 responsibility in Ag Workers, including appointment as its
2627 president in 1988 and as chair of its board of directors in 2006;
2728 and
2829 WHEREAS, Deeply committed to Texas agriculture and to youth
2930 who aspire to careers in the field, Mr. Hill serves on the Texas 4-H
3031 Youth Development Foundation Board and chairs the Youth Educational
3132 Activities Committee at the State Fair of Texas; he is a director of
3233 the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, and he frequently attends local
3334 stock shows and fairs to support young competitors; in addition, he
3435 is a former member of the Texas FFA Foundation and has served as
3536 chair of the Attorney General's Youth Conference; and
3637 WHEREAS, This dynamic Texan's experience includes membership
3738 on the College of Agriculture Development Council at Texas A&M, the
3839 Chancellor's Council at Texas Tech University, and the Dean's
3940 Advisory Council for the College of Agricultural and Environmental
4041 Sciences at Tarleton State University; he has served as chair of the
4142 Tarrant County Program Building Committee and as a member of the
4243 Farm and Ranch Club of the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce and the
4344 Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, to name but a
4445 few of the organizations that have benefited from his involvement;
4546 and
4647 WHEREAS, Through his inspired leadership in a wide range of
4748 agricultural endeavors, Marcus Hill has garnered the respect and
4849 admiration of many, and this award justly acknowledges his enduring
4950 service in behalf of the youth of Texas and his contributions in the
5051 field of agriculture; now, therefore, be it
5152 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
5253 Legislature hereby congratulate Marcus Hill on his receipt of a
5354 Lifetime Achievement Award from Texas Agricultural Lifetime
5455 Leadership and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future;
5556 and, be it further
5657 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
5758 prepared for Mr. Hill as an expression of high regard by the Texas
5859 House of Representatives.
