5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Marcus Hill of Watauga was recognized by Texas |

6 | 7 | | Agricultural Lifetime Leadership with a Lifetime Achievement Award |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Texas Agricultural Lifetime Leadership, or TALL, is |

9 | 10 | | a program of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service that seeks to |
---|
10 | 11 | | prepare men and women for challenging careers in agriculture; |
---|
11 | 12 | | Mr. Hill, a founding member of TALL, has given generously of his |
---|
12 | 13 | | time and resources to the program since its establishment in 1987; |
---|
13 | 14 | | he has continuously served on the program's advisory board and has |
---|
14 | 15 | | further lent his expertise to the TALL cohort selection committee; |
---|
15 | 16 | | and |
---|
16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, A native of Sulphur Springs who served as president |
---|
17 | 18 | | of the Texas FFA, Marcus Hill graduated from Texas A&M University in |
---|
18 | 19 | | 1971 with a bachelor's degree in agricultural education and worked |
---|
19 | 20 | | toward a master's degree in educational psychology; he began |
---|
20 | 21 | | selling insurance with National Farm Life during college, and after |
---|
21 | 22 | | his graduation, he was hired full-time by the business and its |
---|
22 | 23 | | subsidiary, Agricultural Workers Mutual Auto Insurance Company; |
---|

24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Hill went on to accept increasing levels of |
---|
25 | 26 | | responsibility in Ag Workers, including appointment as its |
---|
26 | 27 | | president in 1988 and as chair of its board of directors in 2006; |

28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Deeply committed to Texas agriculture and to youth |
---|
29 | 30 | | who aspire to careers in the field, Mr. Hill serves on the Texas 4-H |
---|
30 | 31 | | Youth Development Foundation Board and chairs the Youth Educational |
---|
31 | 32 | | Activities Committee at the State Fair of Texas; he is a director of |
---|
32 | 33 | | the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, and he frequently attends local |
---|
33 | 34 | | stock shows and fairs to support young competitors; in addition, he |
---|
34 | 35 | | is a former member of the Texas FFA Foundation and has served as |
---|
35 | 36 | | chair of the Attorney General's Youth Conference; and |
---|
36 | 37 | | WHEREAS, This dynamic Texan's experience includes membership |
---|
37 | 38 | | on the College of Agriculture Development Council at Texas A&M, the |
---|
38 | 39 | | Chancellor's Council at Texas Tech University, and the Dean's |
---|
39 | 40 | | Advisory Council for the College of Agricultural and Environmental |
---|
40 | 41 | | Sciences at Tarleton State University; he has served as chair of the |
---|
41 | 42 | | Tarrant County Program Building Committee and as a member of the |
---|
42 | 43 | | Farm and Ranch Club of the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce and the |
---|
43 | 44 | | Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, to name but a |
---|
44 | 45 | | few of the organizations that have benefited from his involvement; |

46 | 47 | | WHEREAS, Through his inspired leadership in a wide range of |

47 | 48 | | agricultural endeavors, Marcus Hill has garnered the respect and |

48 | 49 | | admiration of many, and this award justly acknowledges his enduring |

49 | 50 | | service in behalf of the youth of Texas and his contributions in the |
---|
50 | 51 | | field of agriculture; now, therefore, be it |
---|
51 | 52 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
---|
52 | 53 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Marcus Hill on his receipt of a |

53 | 54 | | Lifetime Achievement Award from Texas Agricultural Lifetime |

54 | 55 | | Leadership and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; |
