5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, James Tippens of Little River-Academy retired from |

6 | 7 | | the U.S. Postal Service on January 2, 2015, drawing to a close a |

7 | 8 | | notable career as a mail carrier that spanned more than three |

8 | 9 | | decades; and |
---|
9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, After serving his nation in the U.S. Marine Corps, |
---|
10 | 11 | | Mr. Tippens joined the U.S. Postal Service in December 1981; he |
---|
11 | 12 | | began his exemplary 33-year tenure with the post office in his |
---|
12 | 13 | | hometown of Beeville, and after working in Carlsbad, California, he |
---|
13 | 14 | | returned to Texas and delivered mail in Killeen and Georgetown, |
---|
14 | 15 | | walking more than 30,000 miles over the course of his career; and |
---|
15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Since 2002, Mr. Tippens had his own route in |
---|
16 | 17 | | downtown Georgetown, where he wore his characteristic shorts in all |
---|
17 | 18 | | weather and delivered the mail with a smile; known for his diligence |
---|
18 | 19 | | and good humor, he earned the respect and affection of the business |
---|
19 | 20 | | owners he served, as well as that of his fellow mail carriers; and |
---|
20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, James Tippens's dedication, kindness, and |
---|
21 | 22 | | commitment to the mission of the U.S. Postal Service have greatly |
---|
22 | 23 | | benefited the people of Georgetown, and he may indeed reflect with |
---|
23 | 24 | | pride on a career well spent as he embarks on the next exciting |
---|
24 | 25 | | chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it |
---|
25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
---|
26 | 27 | | Legislature hereby congratulate James Tippens on his retirement |
---|
27 | 28 | | from the U.S. Postal Service and extend to him sincere best wishes |
---|
28 | 29 | | for continued happiness; and, be it further |

29 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
