45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, The 100th birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed a
67 special occasion, and Clidell Elliott of Troup marked this
78 significant milestone in her life with family and friends on
89 December 28, 2014; and
910 WHEREAS, Born in Milam County in 1914, the former Clidell
1011 Wornick is the daughter of Ibra Terry and Lilly Pearl Pennington
1112 Wornick; she moved to East Texas with her family as a child and
1213 later relocated to a small farm outside of Troup in the early 1920s;
1314 after attending the Sharptop School in the community of Henry's
1415 Chapel, she graduated from high school in Troup with the Class of
1516 1933; and
1617 WHEREAS, Mrs. Elliott moved to Houston in 1941 and worked for
1718 her sister at cafes in the Bayou City and in nearby Pasadena during
1819 World War II, eventually going to work for First Pasadena State
1920 Bank; after marrying in 1948 and welcoming a son, Bill, she became a
2021 full-time homemaker for a few years; returning to the workforce,
2122 she gained employment at San Jacinto State Bank, from which she
2223 retired in 1981 after 27 years of notable service; and
2324 WHEREAS, Mrs. Elliott lived in Colorado near her son's family
2425 before making Pasadena her home for nearly a decade; in 1997, she
2526 purchased property near her childhood home and lives there today
2627 with her son; and
2728 WHEREAS, Clidell Elliott is a source of tremendous
2829 inspiration, and in sharing the experience gained through a century
2930 of life well lived, she bestows a precious gift of wisdom that
3031 benefits all who are fortunate enough to know her; now, therefore,
3132 be it
3233 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
3334 Legislature hereby congratulate Clidell Elliott on the occasion of
3435 her 100th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for
3536 continued happiness; and, be it further
3637 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3738 prepared for Mrs. Elliott as an expression of high regard by the
3839 Texas House of Representatives.
