| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The 100th birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed a |

| 6 | 7 | | special occasion, and Clidell Elliott of Troup marked this |

| 7 | 8 | | significant milestone in her life with family and friends on |

| 8 | 9 | | December 28, 2014; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Born in Milam County in 1914, the former Clidell |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Wornick is the daughter of Ibra Terry and Lilly Pearl Pennington |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Wornick; she moved to East Texas with her family as a child and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | later relocated to a small farm outside of Troup in the early 1920s; |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | after attending the Sharptop School in the community of Henry's |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Chapel, she graduated from high school in Troup with the Class of |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | 1933; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Elliott moved to Houston in 1941 and worked for |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | her sister at cafes in the Bayou City and in nearby Pasadena during |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | World War II, eventually going to work for First Pasadena State |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Bank; after marrying in 1948 and welcoming a son, Bill, she became a |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | full-time homemaker for a few years; returning to the workforce, |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | she gained employment at San Jacinto State Bank, from which she |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | retired in 1981 after 27 years of notable service; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Elliott lived in Colorado near her son's family |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | before making Pasadena her home for nearly a decade; in 1997, she |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | purchased property near her childhood home and lives there today |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | with her son; and |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Clidell Elliott is a source of tremendous |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | inspiration, and in sharing the experience gained through a century |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | of life well lived, she bestows a precious gift of wisdom that |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | benefits all who are fortunate enough to know her; now, therefore, |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
