| 7 | 8 | | celebration of the 100th anniversary of the city's incorporation; |

|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Prosper traces its origins to 1902, when the |

| 10 | 11 | | location began serving as the central stop between Dallas and |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Sherman on the St. Louis, San Francisco and Texas Railway; the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | establishment of the train station encouraged the towns of Rock |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Hill and Richland to merge to form the new settlement of Prosper, |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | which got its name after the farms in the area enjoyed a |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | particularly strong harvest; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, The town was incorporated on April 17, 1914, and |

| 17 | 18 | | continued to serve as a market center for cotton and corn farmers |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | during its early decades; today, this rapidly growing city lives up |

| 19 | 20 | | to its name as an upscale suburban community that benefits from its |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | proximity to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex while preserving its |

| 21 | 22 | | small-town sense of place; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, In a final commemoration of the city's centennial |

| 23 | 24 | | year, the Party at the Park includes games, rides, and a 1950s rock |

| 24 | 25 | | and roll revue; the event is concluding with the burying of a time |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | capsule that will preserve artifacts representative of life in |

| 26 | 27 | | Prosper in 2015; and |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, The 100th anniversary of Prosper provides a fitting |

| 28 | 29 | | opportunity for its citizens to celebrate the city's rich history |

| 29 | 30 | | as they work to build an even brighter future, and they may indeed |

| 30 | 31 | | take great pride in their community's contributions to the Lone |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
