| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, For more than eight decades, the Frisco Garden Club |

|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, One of the oldest institutions of its kind in |

| 9 | 10 | | Frisco, the club was founded in 1932 by a group of women who wished |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | to foster interest in home gardening, encourage civic engagement, |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | and work toward the protection and conservation of native plants, |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | wildflowers, and bird species; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Today, the Frisco Garden Club has grown to include |

| 14 | 15 | | 84 active and 4 honorary members who remain committed to the club's |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | motto of "A flower in every garden, joy in every heart"; the |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | organization gives back to the wider community by conducting |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | plantings at parks, organizing the annual Frisco Veterans of |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Foreign Wars Memorial Day Service, and completing a number of other |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | worthwhile projects; moreover, the club works together with the |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Frisco Educational Foundation to award scholarships to local |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | students seeking a college degree in horticulture, agricultural |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | sciences, or environmental sciences; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, The Frisco Garden Club has brightened and enriched |

| 24 | 25 | | the lives of fellow citizens through its careful stewardship of the |

| 25 | 26 | | natural world, and its many achievements are indeed deserving of |

| 26 | 27 | | special recognition; now, therefore, be it |

| 27 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 28 | 29 | | Legislature hereby commend the Frisco Garden Club for its important |

| 29 | 30 | | work in behalf of the community and extend to the club best wishes |
