H.R. No. 2103
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Creighton Avery of West Oso High School was honored
for his exceptional achievements during the 2014-2015 season by
being chosen Newcomer of the Year in the Corpus Christi
Caller-Times All-South Texas basketball awards selections; and
WHEREAS, Distinguishing himself as one of the most talented
point guards in the area, Mr. Avery started each of the Bears' 34
contests as a freshman and averaged 8.5 points and 4 assists per
game while helping his team reach the regional quarterfinals of the
state playoffs; moreover, he was recognized as a District 31-4A
All-Academic player, and he also garnered the district's Newcomer
of the Year accolade for his performance on the court; and
WHEREAS, The All-South Texas award provides fitting
acknowledgement of the talent, hard work, and commitment to
excellence demonstrated by this exemplary student-athlete, and he
may take justifiable pride in his accomplishments; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Creighton Avery on being chosen
Newcomer of the Year in the Corpus Christi Caller-Times All-South
Texas basketball awards selections and extend to him sincere best
wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Avery as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
