45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the
67 death of Barbara Laine Brunner of Banquete on April 6, 2015, at the
78 age of 84; and
89 WHEREAS, The former Barbara French was born in Robstown on
910 November 13, 1930, to John James French and Lenna Lee French
1011 Bengtson; after graduating from Robstown High School, she earned a
1112 bachelor's degree in elementary education from Texas College of
1213 Arts and Industries, and in 1951, she began teaching at De Zavala
1314 School in Corpus Christi; and
1415 WHEREAS, Ms. French was joined in matrimony to Richard
1516 E. Brunner in 1952, and they shared more than six decades together;
1617 they were blessed with four children, Richard, James, John, and
1718 Robbe, and their family later grew to include a granddaughter and a
1819 great-granddaughter; and
1920 WHEREAS, After raising her children, Mrs. Brunner resumed
2021 her career, teaching third and fourth grades at Banquete Elementary
2122 School for 25 years, until her retirement; and
2223 WHEREAS, Mrs. Brunner was active in the Daughters of the
2324 American Revolution, and she served on the board of the Robstown
2425 Area Historical Association; she also maintained her friendships
2526 with her Delta Theta sorority sisters throughout her life; and
2627 WHEREAS, A skilled cook and baker, Mrs. Brunner shared her
2728 famous buttermilk pies and banana bread with friends and loved ones
2829 and put together a cookbook of her favorite recipes; she also
2930 delighted in creating floral arrangements, decorating her home for
3031 the holidays, and shopping for antiques with friends; and
3132 WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Barbara Brunner
3233 will long remember the way she touched their lives with her warmth
3334 and generosity, and she will forever hold a treasured place in their
3435 hearts; now, therefore, be it
3536 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
3637 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Barbara Laine
3738 Brunner and extend sincere condolences to the members of her
3839 family: to her husband, Richard E. Brunner; to her sons, Richard T.
3940 Brunner and his wife, Benita, James Brunner and his wife, Geneva,
4041 John Brunner and his girlfriend, Lucero Tellez; to her daughter,
4142 Robbe Brunner and her boyfriend, Mark Henricks; to her
4243 granddaughter, Shea Lynn Brunner-Gonzales; to her
4344 great-granddaughter, Brianna Brunner; and to her other relatives
4445 and friends; and, be it further
4546 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4647 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
4748 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Barbara
4849 Laine Brunner.
