5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, After 57 years of cutting hair, Manuel Lozano Sr. of |

6 | 7 | | Georgetown retired from City Barber Shop on December 24, 2014; and |

7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A native Texan, Mr. Lozano served with the United |
---|
8 | 9 | | States Marine Corps in the Korean War, and after coming home he |

9 | 10 | | worked in construction; desiring a job that didn't depend on the |
---|
10 | 11 | | weather, he learned how to cut hair in Houston and then took on the |
---|
11 | 12 | | job of military barber at Fort Hood; eventually, he returned to |
---|
12 | 13 | | Georgetown and opened his own barbershop on Ninth and Rock Streets; |

14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Lozano joined City Barber Shop 17 years ago and |
---|
15 | 16 | | earned the loyalty of many customers during his time there; he |
---|
16 | 17 | | enjoyed getting to know his clients and delighted in being able to |

17 | 18 | | brighten someone's day by giving them a quality haircut; before |
---|
18 | 19 | | retiring, he gave his last haircut to his seven-year-old grandson, |

19 | 20 | | Kaden; and |

20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Blessed with a fine family, Mr. Lozano is the |

21 | 22 | | devoted husband of Virginia Lozano and the proud father of four |
---|
22 | 23 | | children; now that he has stepped away from his barber's chair, he |

23 | 24 | | is looking forward to spending more time with his loved ones and to |
---|
24 | 25 | | getting some well-deserved rest and relaxation; and |
---|
25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Manuel Lozano's dedication to his work and |

26 | 27 | | commitment to excellence have greatly benefited his patrons over |
---|
27 | 28 | | the years, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his nearly |
---|
28 | 29 | | six-decades-long career in the barber's profession; now, |

30 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

31 | 32 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Manuel Lozano Sr. on his retirement |
