| 11 | 12 | | Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, the League of Women Voters has |

| 12 | 13 | | grown into one of the most influential nonpartisan political |

| 13 | 14 | | organizations in the nation and is today open to men as well as |

| 14 | 15 | | women; and |

| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, One of 27 local leagues in Texas, the League of Women |

| 16 | 17 | | Voters of Corpus Christi champions responsible citizenship and |

| 17 | 18 | | government; its members have raised awareness of a wide range of |

| 18 | 19 | | issues of importance to area residents, including community health, |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | immigration, ambulance service, water management, education, and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | the city charter, and have worked tirelessly to promote an informed |

| 21 | 22 | | electorate, publishing more than 100 voter guides and conducting |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Three influential Corpus Christi mayors, Betty |

| 24 | 25 | | Turner, Mary Rhodes, and Nelda Martinez, are counted among the |

| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, The League of Women Voters of Corpus Christi has |

| 27 | 28 | | long been a catalyst for meaningful civic engagement, and as |

| 28 | 29 | | members observe the group's 70th anniversary, they may indeed take |

| 29 | 30 | | pride in the important role they play in elevating public discourse |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
