5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Deputy Constable R. R. Bledsoe of the Nueces County |

7 | 8 | | 1925, and his service and sacrifice will not soon be forgotten; and |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, At the age of 32, Deputy Constable Bledsoe had been |

9 | 10 | | employed by the agency for just seven months when he and another |
---|
10 | 11 | | constable stopped to question four men they observed drinking in |
---|
11 | 12 | | public; they were attempting to place the offenders under arrest |
---|
12 | 13 | | when the men pulled out handguns and opened fire, killing both |
---|
13 | 14 | | officers; and |
---|
14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Our state and nation benefit immeasurably from the |

15 | 16 | | courage and commitment of law enforcement professionals such as |

16 | 17 | | Deputy Constable R. R. Bledsoe, who willingly place themselves in |

17 | 18 | | harm's way each day to safeguard the lives and property of their |

18 | 19 | | fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it |

19 | 20 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

20 | 21 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life and exemplary service of |

21 | 22 | | Deputy Constable R. R. Bledsoe of the Nueces County Constable's |
