45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Deputy Constable R. R. Bledsoe of the Nueces County
67 Constable's Office lost his life in the line of duty on July 5,
78 1925, and his service and sacrifice will not soon be forgotten; and
89 WHEREAS, At the age of 32, Deputy Constable Bledsoe had been
910 employed by the agency for just seven months when he and another
1011 constable stopped to question four men they observed drinking in
1112 public; they were attempting to place the offenders under arrest
1213 when the men pulled out handguns and opened fire, killing both
1314 officers; and
1415 WHEREAS, Our state and nation benefit immeasurably from the
1516 courage and commitment of law enforcement professionals such as
1617 Deputy Constable R. R. Bledsoe, who willingly place themselves in
1718 harm's way each day to safeguard the lives and property of their
1819 fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it
1920 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
2021 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life and exemplary service of
2122 Deputy Constable R. R. Bledsoe of the Nueces County Constable's
2223 Office.
