 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, David Sitton is retiring from his position as head
 baseball coach at Humble High School at the end of the 2014-2015
 school year, drawing to a close an impressive career in education
 and athletics; and
 WHEREAS, Coach Sitton has guided the baseball program at
 Humble High for 31 seasons after first joining the faculty in 1984;
 in that time, he has helped the Wildcats reach new levels of success
 on the diamond, leading his teams to 8 district championships, 18
 appearances in the postseason, and more than 500 victories; and
 WHEREAS, The encouragement and expertise that Coach Sitton
 has shared with his athletes has enabled them to reach their full
 potential, both on and off the field; he has mentored 17 All-State
 players during his remarkable tenure, and many Wildcats have gone
 on to further athletic glory, with 73 playing for college programs,
 4 earning collegiate All-American honors, and 1 winning a college
 player of the year award; moreover, 17 former Humble team members
 have been selected in the Major League Baseball draft; and
 WHEREAS, A native of Humble and a gifted athlete in his own
 right, David Sitton lettered in both baseball and basketball at
 Humble High School before graduating in 1978; he went on to play
 baseball at San Jacinto College and the University of Arkansas, and
 he completed his degree at Sam Houston State University; prior to
 returning to his alma mater, he coached at St. Pius X High School in
 Houston, where he led the school to a state championship in his
 first season; and
 WHEREAS, Through the years, Coach Sitton has benefited from
 the love and support of his family, which includes his wife, Diana,
 his daughters, Rachelle, Courtney, Kaleigh, and Devin, and his
 granddaughters, McKinley, Adleigh, and Raelyn; and
 WHEREAS, For more than three decades, David Sitton has
 excelled in the important job of preparing young people for the
 future, and as he bids farewell to the Humble High School dugout, he
 may indeed reflect with pride on his many achievements as a coach
 and educator; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate David Sitton on his retirement as
 head baseball coach at Humble High School and extend to him sincere
 best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Coach Sitton as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
