| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Born in Chicago in 1930 to Richard and Loretta |

| 10 | 11 | | Murphy, Robert Murphy was educated by the Jesuits at Loyola |

| 11 | 12 | | Academy; upon graduating, he answered his nation's call to duty by |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps, and he attained the rank of |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | staff sergeant while serving his country during the Korean War; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Following his military service, Mr. Murphy moved to |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Texas and embarked on a career in the insurance industry; he |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | established a regional office in Houston while employed with the |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | New England Life Insurance Company, and he later joined MassMutual, |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | where he continues to work as a certified life underwriter; |

| 19 | 20 | | moreover, he is a member of the prestigious Million Dollar Round |

| 20 | 21 | | Table, an association of the world's leading life insurance and |
|---|

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Murphy has been active in civic affairs in |

| 23 | 24 | | Houston, serving as a Republican precinct chair and as president of |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | the Fonn Villas Civic Association; he was also a member of the |

| 25 | 26 | | Houston Jaycees and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo; a devoted |

| 26 | 27 | | congregant of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, he has served his |

| 27 | 28 | | community of faith in a number of capacities, including as |

| 28 | 29 | | president of the St. Cecilia Catholic School board; and |

| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Devoted to his family, Mr. Murphy has enjoyed the |

| 30 | 31 | | love and support of his wife, Joan Lee Murphy, for more than six |

| 31 | 32 | | decades, and the couple are the proud parents of five children, Mary |

| 32 | 33 | | Beth, Marilyn, Barbara, Kathleen, and Jim; with the passing years, |

| 33 | 34 | | their family has grown to include nine grandchildren, Christopher, |

| 34 | 35 | | Jonathon, Patrick, Nick, Katie, Robert, Pace, Ben, and Emma, and a |
