45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, In recognition of her notable contributions to area
67 athletics, Cathy Supak is being inducted into the Southwest
78 Athletic Trainers' Association Hall of Fame at the organization's
89 2015 meeting, which is taking place from July 16 to 18 in Houston;
910 and
1011 WHEREAS, A native of Hondo, Ms. Supak graduated from Westlake
1112 High School in Austin and earned her bachelor's degree from
1213 Southwest Texas State University in 1984; she began her career at La
1314 Porte High School, and for the past 23 years she has distinguished
1415 herself as head athletic trainer at Clear Brook High School in
1516 Friendswood; and
1617 WHEREAS, Ms. Supak has further benefited her profession as
1718 president of the Greater Houston Athletic Trainers' Society and as
1819 a founding member and president of the Texas State Athletic
1920 Trainers' Association; she has been an active member of SWATA for
2021 more than three decades, and she was appointed to the Texas Advisory
2122 Board of Athletic Trainers in 2013 by Governor Rick Perry; and
2223 WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan is the recipient of many
2324 well-deserved accolades, among which are the National Athletic
2425 Trainers' Association Athletic Trainer Service Award, the GHATS
2526 Bobby Gunn Award and Logan Wood Award for Meritorious Service, and
2627 the Certificate of Merit from the American Red Cross; moreover,
2728 Ms. Supak was previously honored by SWATA with the Ross Moss Award
2829 for Leadership as well as the 2011 Most Distinguished Athletic
2930 Trainer Award; and
3031 WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Ms. Supak enjoys the love and
3132 support of a fine family that includes her husband, Ray, and her two
3233 children, Amanda and Cameron; and
3334 WHEREAS, Cathy Supak has demonstrated a long-standing
3435 commitment to her profession and to ensuring the well-being of
3536 young athletes, and she may take justifiable pride in her
3637 accomplishments as she accepts this prestigious hall of fame honor;
3738 now, therefore, be it
3839 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
3940 Legislature hereby congratulate Cathy Supak on her induction into
4041 the Southwest Athletic Trainers' Association Hall of Fame and
4142 extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
4243 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4344 prepared for Ms. Supak as an expression of high regard by the Texas
4445 House of Representatives.
