45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Ouida
67 Mae Edwards Dulany of Belton, who passed away on March 30, 2015, at
78 the age of 86; and
89 WHEREAS, The daughter of Eva Ray and Monroe Edwards,
910 Mrs. Dulany was born in Baker, Louisiana, on January 24, 1929; she
1011 graduated from Istrouma High School in Baton Rouge in 1946 and went
1112 on to study business at Northwestern State College in Natchitoches;
1213 subsequently, she worked a variety of secretarial jobs before
1314 moving to Belton in 1961 and joining the University of Mary
1415 Hardin-Baylor as the president's administrative assistant; she
1516 held that position for many years, earning honorary membership in
1617 the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Alumni Association, and
1718 retired in 1996; and
1819 WHEREAS, In 1950, the former Ouida Edwards married the love
1920 of her life, George Benjamin "Benny" Dulany, with whom she shared a
2021 rewarding union that spanned 57 years; the couple became the proud
2122 parents of three children, George, Daryl, and Dianah, and they were
2223 further blessed with three grandchildren, Jacob, Zachary, and
2324 Madison, and a great-grandchild, Bentley; and
2425 WHEREAS, Mrs. Dulany gave generously of her time and energy
2526 to a number of worthy organizations, including Altrusa
2627 International, Republican Women, the Belton Area Chamber of
2728 Commerce, Friends of the Lena Armstrong Public Library, and PEO;
2829 sustained by a deep and abiding faith, she was also an active member
2930 of First Baptist Church of Belton, where she taught Sunday school
3031 for several years; and
3132 WHEREAS, Devoted to her family, her faith, and her community,
3233 Ouida Dulany touched the lives of many with her kindness and her
3334 buoyant spirit, and all who cherished this beloved woman will
3435 forever hold her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
3536 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
3637 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Ouida Dulany and
3738 extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her sons,
3839 George B. Dulany Jr. and Daryl Dulany; to her daughter, Dianah
3940 Dulany; to her daughter-in-law, Laure; to her grandchildren, Jacob,
4041 Zachary, and Madison; to her great-grandchild, Bentley; to her
4142 sister, Barbara Jean Ables Downing; to her sister-in-law,
4243 Georgeanna Losavio; and to her other relatives and many friends;
4344 and, be it further
4445 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4546 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
4647 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ouida Mae
4748 Edwards Dulany.
