5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Ouida |

6 | 7 | | Mae Edwards Dulany of Belton, who passed away on March 30, 2015, at |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Eva Ray and Monroe Edwards, |

9 | 10 | | Mrs. Dulany was born in Baker, Louisiana, on January 24, 1929; she |

10 | 11 | | graduated from Istrouma High School in Baton Rouge in 1946 and went |
---|
11 | 12 | | on to study business at Northwestern State College in Natchitoches; |
---|
12 | 13 | | subsequently, she worked a variety of secretarial jobs before |
---|
13 | 14 | | moving to Belton in 1961 and joining the University of Mary |
---|
14 | 15 | | Hardin-Baylor as the president's administrative assistant; she |
---|
15 | 16 | | held that position for many years, earning honorary membership in |
---|
16 | 17 | | the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Alumni Association, and |
---|
17 | 18 | | retired in 1996; and |
---|
18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, In 1950, the former Ouida Edwards married the love |
---|
19 | 20 | | of her life, George Benjamin "Benny" Dulany, with whom she shared a |
---|
20 | 21 | | rewarding union that spanned 57 years; the couple became the proud |
---|
21 | 22 | | parents of three children, George, Daryl, and Dianah, and they were |
---|
22 | 23 | | further blessed with three grandchildren, Jacob, Zachary, and |
---|
23 | 24 | | Madison, and a great-grandchild, Bentley; and |
---|
24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Dulany gave generously of her time and energy |
---|
25 | 26 | | to a number of worthy organizations, including Altrusa |
---|
26 | 27 | | International, Republican Women, the Belton Area Chamber of |
---|
27 | 28 | | Commerce, Friends of the Lena Armstrong Public Library, and PEO; |
---|
28 | 29 | | sustained by a deep and abiding faith, she was also an active member |
---|
29 | 30 | | of First Baptist Church of Belton, where she taught Sunday school |
---|
30 | 31 | | for several years; and |
---|
31 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Devoted to her family, her faith, and her community, |

32 | 33 | | Ouida Dulany touched the lives of many with her kindness and her |
---|
33 | 34 | | buoyant spirit, and all who cherished this beloved woman will |

34 | 35 | | forever hold her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |

35 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

36 | 37 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Ouida Dulany and |

37 | 38 | | extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her sons, |

38 | 39 | | George B. Dulany Jr. and Daryl Dulany; to her daughter, Dianah |
