H.R. No. 223 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The Crosbyton High School "Catch-22" team recently placed first in the High Plains Underground Water Conservation District's inaugural H2YOU conservation campaign contest; and WHEREAS, The H2YOU conservation campaign contest is part of an effort by the High Plains Water District to promote awareness of the need for water conservation in the region; the competition is open to any high school student in the water district's 16-county service area; and WHEREAS, The Crosbyton team consisted of Ciera Ware, Natalie Rodriguez, Dominique Flores, and Desmond Garza; the group produced an agricultural water conservation proposal to provide creative and inventive solutions to help farmers and ranchers become better informed about water conservation methods and techniques; and WHEREAS, For winning first place, each team member receives a $500 scholarship and the opportunity to travel to Austin to present their project to the Texas Water Development Board; and WHEREAS, These outstanding young Texans have demonstrated great skill and dedication, and they are a source of pride to their school and their community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby commend the Crosbyton High School team on winning the first H2YOU conservation campaign contest and extend to them sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
