| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Betty Rice of De Leon retired from Farmers and |

| 6 | 7 | | Merchants Bank on December 31, 2014, concluding an outstanding |

| 7 | 8 | | career with that institution that spanned nearly six decades; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The former Betty McCrary graduated from De Leon High |

| 9 | 10 | | School in 1956; during her junior year, she served as school |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | librarian and was active in the library club, activities that |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | developed the flair for organization and attention to detail that |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | would serve her well throughout her career; shortly after |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | graduation, she began working at Farmers and Merchants Bank as a |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | bookkeeper; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Throughout her time with the bank, Mrs. Rice saw |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | many changes to technology and procedures; her responsibilities |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | grew as paper registers were replaced by computers, and increasing |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | regulations afforded her the chance to shine as a quick learner in a |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | complex industry; her skill and adaptability led to many promotions |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | over the years, including time as president and chief operating |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | officer; during her last year at the bank, she worked primarily as a |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | consultant; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Mrs. Rice enjoys the love and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | support of her sons, Stephen and Michael, from her marriage of 45 |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | years to Robert Rice, who passed away in 2003; and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Betty Rice's hard work and commitment to excellence |

| 27 | 28 | | have greatly benefited her coworkers and clients at Farmers and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | Merchants Bank, and she may reflect with pride on her many |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | achievements as she embarks on her well-deserved retirement; now, |

| 31 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 32 | 33 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Betty Rice on her retirement from |
