| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Raymond Palacios Jr., president of Bravo Chevrolet |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A Houston native, Mr. Palacios served his country in |

| 9 | 10 | | the United States Marine Corps, and he earned his accounting degree |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | from the University of Houston; beginning his career as a CPA, he |

| 11 | 12 | | rose to become a vice president of developer Perry Homes before |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | deciding to fulfill his dream of owning a company; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Palacios completed the General Motors dealer |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | development program, and he worked in every department of a |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | dealership in Houston, learning the business from the ground up; in |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | 1999, he took a chance on an underperforming dealership in El Paso, |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | purchasing it sight unseen; within a month under his leadership, |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | the store had turned a profit for the first time in five years; he |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | subsequently bought another dealership in Las Cruces; and |

| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Highly regarded in the industry, Mr. Palacios |

| 21 | 22 | | serves on the board of the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles; he |

| 22 | 23 | | has benefited his profession in numerous other key roles, among |

| 23 | 24 | | them district director of the Texas Automotive Dealers Association, |

| 24 | 25 | | president of the El Paso New Car Dealers Association, and vice chair |

| 25 | 26 | | of the General Motors Minority Dealer Advisory Council; and |

| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, This dynamic entrepreneur has demonstrated a strong |

| 27 | 28 | | commitment to civic life and charitable endeavors; he serves on the |

| 28 | 29 | | Paul L. Foster School of Medicine Dean's Advisory Council, on the |

| 29 | 30 | | executive board of the Borderplex Economic Alliance, and on the |

| 30 | 31 | | board of the Council for Economic and Educational Development; in |

| 31 | 32 | | addition, he has served as president of the Association for the |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | Advancement of Mexican Americans, and he has given generously of |

| 33 | 34 | | his time and talents to the University of Houston Alumni |

| 34 | 35 | | Association, the Yucca Council Boy Scouts of America, the Young |

| 36 | 37 | | WHEREAS, Raymond Palacios has earned the deep respect and |
