H.R. No. 2259 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The members of the Lumberton High School girls' track team were crowned champions of the Buc Relays Track and Field Meet on April 2, 2015; and WHEREAS, Competing at East Chambers High School against a number of talented area teams, the Lady Raiders finished in first place with a total of 111 points; and WHEREAS, The 1,600-meter relay team, including Lynney McLain, Megan Worry, Taylor Powell, and Jordan Wellborn, scored crucial points with a first-place win, and the 400-meter relay team, Hanna Holt, Lauren Caraway, Ms. Worry, and Ms. Powell, placed fourth; completing impressive individual runs, Phoenix Reed placed fourth in the 800-meter dash, Ms. Wellborn captured first place in both the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter runs, and Ashlyn Bourque took second place in the 100-meter high hurdle event; and WHEREAS, The Lumberton team also turned out notable performances on the field; in the high jump competition, Ms. Powell placed first and Emillee Sitton took fourth; Kaitlyn Black leapt into first place in the pole vault event, while Ms. Worry landed in fifth place in the long jump, and Ms. Sitton took third in the triple jump; helping to round out the team's final score, Karah Dunham placed second in shot put, and Kayla Thomas placed second in discus; and WHEREAS, These talented student-athletes have demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication throughout the season, and they may indeed take pride in their achievements; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the Lumberton High School girls' track team on winning the 2015 Buc Relays Track and Field Meet and extend to each member sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
